Cage the Elephant - Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked
I was walking down the street, When out the corner of my eye I saw a pretty little thing approaching me. She said “I’ve never seen a man Who looks so all alone, Could you use a little company? If you pay the right price Your evening will be nice, And you can go and send me on my way.” I said “You’re such a sweet young thing Why you do this to yourself?” She looked at me and this is what she said, “Oh, there ain’t no rest for the wicked, Money don’t grow on trees. I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, There ain’t nothing in this world for free. I know I can’t slow down, I can’t hold back, Though you know, I wish I could. Oh no there ain’t no rest for the wicked, Until we close our eyes for good”. Not even fifteen minutes later I’m still walking down the street, When I saw the shadow of a man creep out of sight. And then he swept up from behind he put a gun up to my head, He made it clear he wasn’t looking for a fright. He said “Give me all you’ve got I want your money not your life, But you try to make a move I won’t think twice.” I told him “You can have my cash But first you know I got to ask What made you want to live this kind of life?” He said “There ain’t no rest for the wicked, Money don’t grow on trees. I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, There ain’t nothing in this world for free. I know I can’t slow down, I can’t hold back, Though you know, I wish I could. Oh no there ain’t no rest for the wicked, Until we close our eyes for good”. Well now a couple hours passed And I was sitting at my house, The day was winding down and coming to an end. So I turned on the TV And flipped it over to the news, And what I saw I almost couldn’t comprehend. I saw a preacher man in cuffs he’d taken money from the church, He stuffed his bank account with righteous dollar bills. But even still I can’t say much Because I know we’re all the same, Oh yes we all seek out to satisfy those thrills. You know there ain’t no rest for the wicked, Money don’t grow on trees. We got bills to pay, We got mouths to feed, There ain’t nothing in this world for free. I know we can’t slow down, We can’t hold back, Though you know, we wish we could. Oh no there ain’t no rest for the wicked, Until we close our eyes for good |
A Better Place To Be Lyrics
It was an early morning bar room, And the place just opened up. And the little man came in so fast and he Started at his cups. And the broad who served the whisky She was a big old friendly girl. Who tried to fight her empty nights By smilin' at the world. And she said "Hey Bub, It's, It's been awhile Since you been around. Where the hell you been hidin'? And why you look so down?" Well the little man just sat there like he'd never heard a sound. The waitress she gave out with a cough, And acting not the least put off, She spoke once again. She said, "I don't want to bother you, Consider it's understood. I know I'm not no beauty queen, But I sure can listen good." And the little man took his drink in his hand And he raised it to his lips. He took a couple of sips. And then he told the waitress this story. "I am the midnight watchman down at Miller's Tool and Die. And I watch the metal rusting, I watch the time go by. A week ago at the diner I stopped to get a bite. And this here lovely lady she sat two seats from my right. And Lord, Lord, Lord she was alright. You see, she was so damned beautiful that she could warm a winter frost. But she looked long past lonely, and well nigh on to lost. Now I'm not much of a mover, or a pick-em-up easy guy, But I decided to glide on over, and give her one good try. And Lord, Lord, Lord she was worth a try. Well I was "Tongued-tied like a school boy, I stammered out some words. It did not seem to matter much, 'cause I don't think she heard. She just looked clear on through me to a space back in my head. It shamed me into silence, as quietly she said, 'If you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me. Cause I know I'm going nowhere, and anywhere's a better place to be. Anywhere's a better place to be.' Well I drove her to my boarding house, and I took her up to my room. And I went to turn on the only light to brighten up the gloom. But she said, 'Please leave the light off, oh I don't mind the dark.' And as her clothes all tumbled 'round her, I could hear my heart. The moonlight shone upon her as she lay back in my bed. It was the kind of scene I only had imagined in my head. I just could not believe it, to think that she was real. And as I tried to tell her she said 'Shhh.. I know just how you feel. And if you want to come here with me, then that's all right with me. 'Cause I've been oh so lonely, lovin' someone is a better way to be. anywhere's a better place to be.' Well The morning come so swiftly I held her in my arms. And she slept like a baby, snug and safe from harm. I did not want to share her or dare to break the mood, So before she woke I went out to buy us both some food. "I came back with my paper bag, to find that she was gone. She'd left a six word letter saying 'It's time that I moved on.'" You know The waitress she took her bar rag, and she wiped it across her eyes. And as she spoke her voice came out as something like a sigh. She said "I wish that I was beautiful, or that you were halfway blind. And I wish I weren't so goddamn fat, I wish that you were mine. And I wish that you'd come with me, when I leave for home. For we both know all about emptiness, and livin' all alone." And the little man, Looked at the empty glass in his hand. And he smiled a crooked grin, He said, "I, I guess I'm out of gin. And I know we both have been, so lonely. And if you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me. 'Cause I know I'm goin' nowhere and anywhere's a better place to be." |

I saw you walking down the street last night,
I saw him walking by your side, I saw the way he stopped and held you tight, I saw the look in your eyes, Go on and tell him that you love him, Go on and show him he’s the one, Go on and give him every sacred thing that you used to save for us, And see if I care, Look at the way you’re tearing me apart baby, See if I care, Look at the tears falling in this heart baby, Go on go on go on, Yeah go on go on go on, And see if I care, I still can hear the way you whisper, Softly in my ear, I lay awake and I remember the way it felt to hold you near, Go on and run your fingers through his hair, Go on and lay by his side, Go on and wrap him in your dark surrender, And all your tender lies, And see if I care, Look at the way you’re tearing me apart baby, See if I care, Look at the tears falling in this heart baby, Go on go on go on, Yeah go on go on go on, And see if I care, Look a the way you’re tearing me apart baby, See if I care, Look at the tears falling in this heart baby, Go on go on go on, Yeah go on go on go on, Well go on, And see if I care See if I care...... See if I care..... See if I care....... |
Today, he told he that he loved her
Put a ring around her finger And promised her forever, together. Today, she smiled for all the pictures And he was right there with her Making all the memories without me And it hurts to say this out loud Looks like she's really gone now Today, is the happiest day of her life I should be happy for her today So tell me why are these tears in my eyes? I know I should be happy for her But I've lost everything I've lost everything I've ever wanted today Today, I thought about the moment I could have said I loved her And promised her forever together Today, today it really hit me That she don't really miss me She's found a new beginning And I'm wishing I had one more chance God knows it's too late for that Today, is the happiest day of her life I should be happy for her today So tell me why are these tears in my eyes? I know I should be happy for her But I've lost everything I've lost everything I've ever wanted today Today, is the happiest day of her life I should be happy for her But I've lost everything I've lost everything I've ever wanted Today, he told he that he loved her Put a ring around her finger |
Kiss Me When I'm Down.....
CURRENTLY MY FAVORITE OF THE WEEK
It’s been a year since last weekend when you swung by with an old friend Carried out our future box by box Stack of mail a tube of toothpaste An empty zeppelin three cd case Still a few things here that you forgot They’re just a bad excuse Just something I can use To call you Come on over Drink my wine Waste my candles Waste my time Tell me lies I won’t believe Just don’t wake me when you leave Come on over Kick me to the ground Kiss me when I’m down The bar you’re in sounds like it’s crowded People laughin’ people shouting Where you gonna go at closing time Just pay your tab And I’ll pay your cab If you want to Come on over Drink my wine Waste my candles Waste my time Tell me lies I won’t believe Just don’t wake me when you leave Come on over Kick me to the ground Kiss me when I’m down Just an hour or two Is better than none of you I miss you Come on over Drink my wine Waste my candles Waste my time Tell me lies I won’t believe Just don’t wake me when you leave Come on over Kick me to the ground Kiss me when I’m down Kiss me when I’m down |
The Ground Beneath her Feet - U2
All my life, I worshipped her Her golden voice, her beauty's beat How she made us feel How she made me real And the ground beneath her feet And the ground beneath her feet And now I can't be sure of anything Black is white, and cold is heat For what I worshipped stole my love away It was the ground beneath her feet It was the ground beneath her feet Go lightly down your darkened way Go lightly underground I'll be down there in another day I won't rest until you're found Let me love you true, let me rescue you Let me lead you to where two roads meet O come back above Where there's only love And the ground beneath her feet And the ground beneath her feet |
Sound of Madness by Shinedown
Yeah, I get it, you're an outcast Always under attack, always coming in last Bringing up the past, no one owes you anything I think you need a shotgun blast, a kick in the ass So paranoid, watch your back Oh my, here we go Another lose cannon gone bi-polar Slipped down, couldn't get much lower Quicksand's got no sense of humor I'm still laughing like hell You think that by crying to me Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe You've been infected by a social disease Well, then take your medicine I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain Somehow I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself? I'm so sick of this tombstone mentality If there's an afterlife then it'll set you free But I'm not gonna part the seas You're a self-fulfilling prophecy You think that by crying to me Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe You've been infected by a social disease Well, then take your medicine I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain Somehow I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself? I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain Somehow I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up and fight? I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain Somehow I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself? When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself? When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself? When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself? |
Rainbow in the Dark - Dio
(in memoriam) When there's lightning - it only always brings me down Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found I cry for magic - I feel it dancing in the light But it was cold - I lost my hold To the shadows of the night There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark Do your demons - do they ever let you go When you've tried - do they hide -deep inside Is it someone that you know You're just a picture - you're an image caught in time We're a lie - you and I We're words without a rhyme There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark When there's lightning - it only always brings me down Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found Feel the magic - I feel it floating in the air But it's fear - and you'll hear It calling you beware There's no sign of the morning coming There's no sign of the day You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark |
:hockey:25 (Feels Like '93) - Annakin Slayd :hockey:
I believe that it's meant to be And it feels a little like '93 With failing hands we hold it high And raise number 25 to the sky I believe we're right in the mix and it Eels a little like '86 With failing hands we hold it high And raise number 25 to the sky Here's a rap from the cradle of organized sports Where we come together for a common cause I remember number 24 Cheers busting out every house, every home Hard to believe it was so long ago And I know we got a long, long way to go But I believe this city's got a chance to cop it So I bust my Komisarek shirt and rock it Spoke to the ghost of the Rocket Told me once the wheels are in motion can't stop it Yeah, I thought back to that ten minute O When his tear drops blessed the Bell Centre floor Put a lot of thought to what I'd rhyme about How can I wrap my mind around? Locking number 25 down There has never been a better time than now I believe that it's meant to be And it Feels a little like '93 With failing hands we hold it high And raise number 25 to the sky I believe we're right in the mix and it Feels a little like '86 With failing hands we hold it high And raise number 25 to the sky Let's party all night for the red, blue and white And shine bright like the Place Ville Marie lights It's been a hundred years, 1909 And in a quarter of that time we've paraded with pride And if this year we win number 25 You can bet there'll be elated celebrating city-wide Yeah, once in a while I pass by the Big O And think since we lost our team we haven't been exposed So I climb the tower, raise a glass up to the 'Spos Then I snatch the torch and pass it to the ghosts I know this 25th crusade won't fail And we'll be sipping from the holiest of grails, Yeah Sometimes it's by the numbers we're defined 23, 11, 27, 10 and 9 And maybe number one if you're seeing the signs Because this year I'm seeing and believing twenty-five... |
"Tonight I Wanna Cry"
Alone in this house again tonight I got the TV on, the sound turned down and a bottle of wine There's pictures of you and I on the walls around me The way that it was and could have been surrounds me I'll never get over you walkin' away [Chorus:] I've never been the kind to ever let my feelings show And I thought that bein' strong meant never losin' your self-control But I'm just drunk enough to let go of my pain To hell with my pride, let it fall like rain From my eyes Tonight I wanna cry Would it help if I turned a sad song on "All By Myself" would sure hit me hard now that you're gone Or maybe unfold some old yellow lost love letters It's gonna hurt bad before it gets better But I'll never get over you by hidin' this way [Repeat chorus twice] |
