Ours are  I was checking that out just the other day and got lucky with a one-hand/out-the-window shot from the Shore Way. |
39 and cloudy here today hi of about 46 today
28F and cloudy right now. It's suppose to climb to 32F today but then drop some and begin snowing. Looks like 2-4" tonight and another 2-4" tomorrow for a total of 4-8". Actually we're lucky ... east of us near the Indiana line the amounts are suppose to approach a foot or more. I wonder if my neighbor with the ArticCat and plow will want to do our drives again.
I'll hope so. :) |
DB just heard that we will get between 6' & 12' of the white stuff starting tonight through Wednesday morning. With a low of -2f on Thursday morning. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr Do you want to shovel my drive?
I hope Scarecrow meant " and not ' in his post :) Else a shovel isn't going to do you much good.
It's a blizzard, 7" deep and getting deeper, up to 12" before its done, with wind gust up to 45mph. We are under a blizzard warning until Midnight. Central Illinois, Indiana and Ohio are all getting it today. The east coast can have it tomorrow.
P.S. yes inches and not feet :faint: |
Blizzard here, too. 21F with wind chills of 5F. Still snowing with expected total accumulation in the 8-10" range. Winds gusting to 40 mph and drifts already are piling up to 1 1/2' to 2'. Not any fun at all.
About eight of us guys just got done loading a semi with charitable donations of medical equipment, furniture and other household items. It's on it's way to Biloxi for shipment overseas to S. America. Man, was it cold. I really feel sorry for the truck driver as he needs to be on the road heading to Sikeston, MO where he'll spend the night. I'd hate to be driving a rig like that in weather like this. He's liable to hit ice a little further south near Springfield, IL. Yuck. Good wishes to anyone having to be on the roads today in this part of the country, |
:loveshowe8 to 16 inches here tomorrow!!!!!!!!:loveshowe
snowin and icin
We have blue sky, the sun is out but it's only 6F. :hair:

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
Cold
Yep, cold here too. :(
Right now it's -12F but they are saying it will be in the 20's for a high. Maybe a bit of snow too. They are also saying that we will be having highs in *gulp* THE 30'S within the next couple of days. :faint: (I'll believe that when it happens.) |
-5F under clear skies with a wind chill of -17. Brrrr. Could be worse. The weather channel just said Roseboom, NY had 38" of snow. :yikes:
Well it is snowing here again and they are calling for 3 to 4 inches of snow. Man when is it ever going to end? *sigh*
Really? We're not getting any snow here yet. Must've stayed to our south. Sorry bout that grl2naughty.
Yep, were gettin "peppered" with snow here in Eastern Kansas right now. Looks like a blizzard outside, can't hardly see. Prayin for winter to be over soon...Pllllleeeaaasseeeee :wish:
We got 18 and the sun is out............still gotta go shovel the drive yet, was a bit messy getting in late last night.
Looks like we got about 2 inches of new snow overnight but it is a bit warmer than it has been lately. Right now it's 16F and is supposed to get up to about 20F. They are still promising upper 30's within the next few days though. :wish:
25F with light snow. Off and on snow showers until sometime around noon.
24F right now with a brisk breeze but it's supposed to reach the low to mid-40's today. :nana:

From the National Weather Service for our area..... :( Watch out IowaMan! It is headed your way too!
Winter storm watch now in effect from Friday evening through sunday morning, The winter storm watch is now in effect from Friday evening through Sunday morning. The NWS in des moines has issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from Friday evening through sunday morning. A major winter storm system over southern california will move out of the rockies and across the plains Saturday then turn northeast toward iowa Saturday night. A mixed bag of weather is expected with the storm. There will be a chance for a mixture of freezing rain and sleet late Friday afternoon and especially Friday night into Saturday. At this time it appears likely that much of the area will see one quarter to one half inch of ice accretion by saturday afternoon. The freezing rain will taper off during the afternoon Saturday. Then, colder air will move into the state Saturday night into Sunday with the next round of precipitation expected to fall as snow during that period. Six to twelve inches of new snow is possible over the watch area by Sunday afternoon. This will fall atop the ice from the first round from Friday night. Additionally, strong wind is expected Sunday which will cause blowing and drifting snow and may create hazardous conditions if the ice remains on trees and power lines. The watch has been extended through Sunday morning due to the expected slower movement of the storm. A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. |
Blue sky for a change, but still bloody hot and humid.

I could've gone without reading that forecast. I can just about see all of the grass in my front yard again and most of it in back and now we've got another storm coming? :( Isn't it supposed to wait until the Girl's State Basketball Tourney starts? I thought that was our rule. |
Well, Cheyanne was right. The storm is here as I type. I swear I just saw some sort of apocalyptic voodoo monkey flying around outside throwing handfulls of ice pellets at my little town. :(
It's been going for only about 15-20 minutes and the front steps are already a sheet of ice. Got a feeling this isn't going to be much fun, supposedly it's going to be more ice than anything here where I'm located. How's the weather out there in San Fran. osuche? :p |

Apocalyptic Voodoo Monkeys here too.. rofl!!! Excellent description! We have had little ice pellets (looks like those little balls from bean bags), hail, lighting strikes, thunder, wind, sleet and ice so far. The forcast above looks to stay... 7-13 inches of snow before we are done. We stopped at the grocery store (like everyone else in town) picked up some snacks, beer and stuff that doesn't have to be cooked just in case the power goes out to get us through the weekend. We have a fireplace, so smores may be on the menu too.. :D |
Yep, looks like they changed their minds for us and decided we're in for 6 to 12 inches of snow by Monday too. :(
The winds right now are absolutely awful. They are saying 40 - 55 mph gusts for much of the weekend and I'm thinking that's right about where we're at now. You'd think the news of lots of inches and big ol' blow job would make us all feel a bit better wouldn't you? |
29F under mostly cloudy skies. Looks like it'll be windy with rain and possibly thunderstorms for later in the day. Oh yeah, there's also a flood watch from areas near the Illinois river or along some of the creeks.
Yes there is a flood watch for us as they say we could get 2-3 inches of rain on top of the melting snow from last week and the ground is still frozen, any have a boat handy. Thank goodness the temp is 36f, so no snow or ice.
It's about 28F here right now. I can't really tell if it's actually snowing or if it is just blowing snow that we've got going on. The winds are just absolutely crazy though, have been since yesterday. They have changed their forecast back to what they had originally stated, that where I am at will miss the heaviest snow and just get the icy stuff. Probably only 3 to 6 inches of snow by the time it's all done sometime Monday.

:sun: 1 F here!!!! |
Our rain has turned into a slushy mess for right now. Hopefully, the roads won't get too slick. It's hovering right about 32F right now.
The sky is clear just now - not a cloud to be seen - but the forcast is for sleet and freezing rain late this evening.
Its 32 and cloudy. Winter warning was cancled and we have an advisory instead. Had sleet when I went to bed followed by a light dusting of snow.
The streets had been dry for a couple of days..............I'm with DB, I'm ready for Spring!!!! |
While it will pass quickly, the pleasant part of the snowfall is swirling outside. The constant background rumble of the city is mostly muted, and the snow is pristine and white.
