I was asked to share a few low fat tips....
I always buy fresh vegetables at the produce stand first, and make dishes according to what veggies I got. Also, I buy veggies and fruit by color. Sounds weird, but I try to get all of the colors every week. That way, I have a large variety in my diet. Nothing is worse than bland food! I don't cut out all of the fat, just some. And of course I eat my favorite things every now and then. Here are some things that have helped that I can live with. Besides the fruits and veggies, I have added more fish and shellfish to my diet. I only eat the breast of a chicken now, and substitute ground turkey for beef whenever possible. I buy and eat alot of nuts and seeds, especially in my salads. I try to eat flat breads, like pitas, burrito shells, wraps. I use olive oil when I can, and I use water to simmer my veggies. |
