I have more respect for you now than I ever did because you cowgirled up and had the guts to say what you had to say whether anyone liked it or not! Here's to you Wyndhy. :) *high five* |
I don't even know 10 things about myself!!! (you all probably know all this already)

Big family person. 3. I am lactose intolerant 4. I get VERY aggrevated at people's ignorance 5. I married my high school sweetheart in 1996. If it weren't for him, I know I wouldn't be where I am today. He is a very loving husband and takes very good care of me. He's my best friend. Oh yeah....he's the only person I've ever had sex with too! We were married in Jamaica at Sandals Dunns River, alone, sent by my parents to start our lives off together (after dating 7 years-he claims my dad paid him to get me out of the house at 23 years old!) 6. I process new business for an insurance/investment company 7. I love music...all kinds, but mostly country...I think my next life I'll be a groupie. 8. I have a huge heart and am very sensitive and worry about what people think of me. 9. I have endometriosis, which caused me a lot of pain over the past 5 years and has now caused problems with fertility, causing ME to feel bad for not providing to a wonderful husband. 10. I was born in Ohio December 14, 1972, interrupting my parents first anniversary in a hotel...yep, I never did like them making out! p.s.... did any of you know that I am a big tease? |
Little known facts about me:
1. I was considered a geek at school. 2. My secret wish is to be a pop star - no seriously, it is, it's just that I can't sing! 3. I'm incredibly shy, but only those people who know me well realise it. 4. I have a scar right in the middle of my forehead. 5. I have a terrible habit of putting things off until the last minute. 6. I cry really easily at just about anything I see on TV! 7. I wish I'd had a better relationship with my Dad when I was a child. 8. I still have to hold my nose when I duck underwater in the swimming pool! 9. I feel guilty that I'm not a better sister/daughter/granddaughter to my family. 10. If I don't get the huge amount of sexual attention that I need, I become very insecure about my physical attractiveness - sorry Fussy! |
1. I am much older than I act! (and hopefully look)
2. I am a video game FREAK! 3. I'm a pretty good singer...good enough to be asked to go to nashville to cut a demo 4. I fish any chance I get 5. I kill bugs for a living 6. I go to the chatroom periodically, but I don't say much. I just watch the convo 7. My mom is a minister! 8. My dad is a retired police officer! 9. I have been married three times (but the first two were not to the correct person) 10. I can count to ten! |

*oooops*:o That was suppose to be a PM to you Mae. I had a little difficulty locating that thread, right Lil? ;)lol I must have hit the wrong button as I passed by while bouncing off the walls. Yes Mae.:) It remains as meaningful to me as the anticipation and I think it will continue to do so. |
1-I met Darren Hayes from former band Savage Garden (now a solo artist) in NYC-won a very hard to win contest lol.....but kind of ruined it.. I'm nowhere near as into his music as I was before I met him...I still think he's damn good looking and his music is very good too!
2-I've been to two Stones shows with my dad-I got a very cool relationship with him like that....and he paid for my tickets both times at $375.00 each! 3-In Madison Square Garden I got pulled up front row at an Elton John concert with my cousin (we were both hmm..17 I think at the time)and then we both got high fives from Elton after a song of his.....high five to me and then went over and did the same to my cousin, how cool! 4-I know how to ride a motorcycle, and have been riding motorcycles since before I learned how to walk (my dad would ride around with me on his lap). I got my first motorcycle when I was in grade school, and now currently just got a new motorcycle that I can't wait to fix up and ride! 5-I really don't like American sports much...after having been to Australia and gone to an Australian football game, I think American football is so lame! lol 6-In March 2004, when I was coming home from Nicaragua from a trip, I had gotten so drunk the night before that I was drunk checking in, on the plane, and for most of my 6 hour layover in El Salvador! lmao 7-I was in choir all through middle and high school, and still enjoy singing daily today..but I'm very shy about my singing abilities lol. 8-I have over 60 relatives in Australia that I never met until 2002 when I went there to study abroad. 9-I have been working at my office for a year now at my college. I work at the Testing Office and among general phone and office duties and filing etc, my main responsibilities are for the handicapped/blind/deaf/learning disabled students. I assist them in taking their exams by writing for the handicapped/blind etc. and/or reading for the blind/handicapped etc. I really enjoy my job. 10-Within the 4 years it takes to get through high school, I had attended 4 different high schools b/c of my parents moving around..however I've managed to stay in contact with at least one person from each school I've made friends with. |

PF...Not a problem. :) |
((((((((((all the preivous posters)))))))))
1. I have 3 half brothers and 3 half sisters some quite a bit older then me. I was pretty much an only child growing up. 2. I was not married to my daughters father, even thou we were together for almost 6 years. 3. I knew what love was but never experienced love until now. I want to do every little thing I can for him, grow old together, wake up every morning next to him, be his soulmate and best friend. But it's all still so new and I'm still scared it's a dream. 4. I don't play jokes on April Fool's Day because it's the day my father passed away. 5. I love to read and is my way for me to escape from life. 6. I love my daughter but most of the time I feel as if I've let her down. 7. I'm an emotional person, I cry very easily, sometimes just because. 8. I've gotten very good at hiding my bad feelings or the bad things in my life from others. I don't like to trouble others with my problems. I've never been very good at asking for help. Others think I'm strong, but I'm scared of everything. I put up a good front. 9. I give great advice, but can't take my own. I'm just as scared of it as they are. 10. Pixies has brought me out of my shell. Given me courage, hope, compassion, laughter, love. It's still very scary. |
*hugs* to sodaklostsoul and everyone else on here, you guys were so brave :)

Huh what to say to follow all of that^^^
I will likely appear shallow, but nonetheless here are mine ... 1. I love my kids more than life itself; they are my end all be all. 2. I kept wyndhy's secret for what 5 months? Even though I wanted to rant about it on the threads in all CAPS! 3. I am an Environmental Engineer that isn't in it to save the planet, but only for the money (there you go Lil I have finally fessed up to what I do for a living). 4. I am a complete movie head, I often speak in movie quotes (that one drives wyndhy nuts sometimes) 5. I am a HARDcore NFL fan, that uses lucky whatevers to help my team (shirts, underwear, hats, action figures, whatever brings my team luck at the time), like the outcome of the game is dependant upon what shirt I have on? 6. I haven't spoken with my mother (more then just trivialities) in more than 20 years (long story there). 7. Wyndhy and my kids are my only real friends in this world. 8. I smoked pot everyday through college as well as while going to graduate school and still managed to get straight A's. 9. I am incredibly paranoid that someone I work with will figure out who I am based on some of these. 10. I am a very aggressive driver, be warned don't catch me in traffic on a bad day. For that matter I am just plain old aggressive in life, don't mess with me or my family if you know what is good for you. It may take me a millions years to exact revenge but it will come. 11. I have a very hard time trusting anyone. I barely trust Wyndhy after the 12 years we have known each other. Wow that was tough. Thanks for listening! Hope I haven't scared anyone. :) |
Like some others have done, I'll see if I can't add another ten little facts ...
11. Since I've retired, I've loved doing charitable work. Fund raisers; collecting goods for the poor, etc. Very rewarding. 12. I have a part time job that I enjoy because it gives me a chance to meet and visit with lots of people. 13. I still haven't gotten back into my art the way I'd hoped to ... been too busy. Still a goal of mine. 14. I love the Christmas season (which is coming up pretty quick). The lights and music have always appealed. 15. Tend to be a pretty trusting person. You almost have to convince me to not trust you. 16. I like to take drives into the countryside or visit parks. 17. I really enjoy our grandchildren and delight in the time we've had to spend with them. 18. I like to fly kites. (Don't think I've shared that before. :)) 19. Quit smoking 7 years ago this coming Christmas Eve. 20. I love visiting shut-ins from our church. My wife and I take communion to them and enjoy having a chance to talk with them. 21. I love Pixies-Place (Which probably comes as a surprise. ) |

Let me welcome you formally to the Pixie Engineering club. BTW, I have a minor in Environmental Engineering, and I pollute the world by working for a chemical company ((((BigBad)))) ~ thanks for sharing a little bit of you! :D |
So, this is the umpteenth time I've sat here and tried to do this thread....I wonder if i can hit enter today?
1) One of the biggest regrets of my life is dropping out of college at the end of my third year to be with the ex-hubby. 2) I have had several miscarriages, including one that was at about 6 months. Each one devastated me. And even though fate knew what was what by not putting children in that awful marriage, I will always miss not holding my child. 3) I was an only child....an oops, if you will....born after my parents had been married 23 years.....Oh, I was loved greatly by them. My mother had been told after a stillborn son during the second year of their marriage, that she would never have any more children. 4) I love my cats!!!! I have 8....they live outside tho. 5) I used to travel alot before i was married, and i miss doing that. Now this may strike you as terrible....but other than one short 4 day trip to the mountains of NC, and one weekend trip to see my best friend in another town, I've been stuck here in bumfuck for over 20 years. And I am planning on rectifying all this. 6) At work, I love my older patients the best. I always have. 7) I really do let things roll off me alot. I just choose to not let the inconsequential get me drawers in a bunch. 8) I am trying to develop a taste for red wine. 9) I was back in college when my marriage fell apart, and had to stop because of finances, after going out on my own. Once the divorce is final, I can get lots of financial aid, so I will finish this time!!! Am trying to become a medical coding specialist. After more than 20 years working in medical labs, i need to do sumpin different now.(Just noticed, i stopped school when i found him and stopped again when i finally got rid of him....now isn't that a coincidence?) 10) I think I'm more of a sexual creature now than i've ever been in my life. |
I did it!!!!! I actually hit "submit"....didn't even go back and read it for fear that i'd just delete the whole thing again......oooooo *pats self on back for being brave today*
|
WTG, kathy! thanks for sharing! :)
and BIGbad, my dear, we have known each other for about 16 years now. lol oh, how the time flies  |
I'm in an Environmental program for my major but I'm NOT in it for the money, I'm in it to make a difference...thank you......(sorry had to be said, sometimes I can be a smart ass, but it was important for me to tell it like it is)

I meant no offense, OzKristin. I respect the environment, and I think you'll find most of today's chemical companies are very environmentally conscious. |
1. I detest cats.
2. My favorite bird is a quail, and NO, I'd never eat one! 3. It takes me a very long time to truly trust people. 4. My 4 closest friends all have blonde hair (I don't) 5. My mother lives 22 miles from here and I've not spoken to her in 6+ years, nor do I intend to. 6. I have very thin skin and am easily "bruised" 7. I've just completed Hospice training, and graduate this coming Thursday. 8. I have 6 children. 9. I'll do just about anything on a dare. 10. I pride myself on my burping abilities. |
^^^^ Congrats on the upcoming graduation, Flutelady. Much luck and good thoughts your way for the path ahead, working in hospice. I'd say you'll be a caring and loving friend and caretaker.

I think I ended on number 21 last time ...
22. We've had seven children ... 4 boys and 3 girls which is coincidently the same number and distribution as our combined parents. I had one brother and my wife had two brothers and two sisters. Voila', 4 boys and 3 girls. 23. We tend to drive our cars until they drop. We've got 4 cars with almost 600,000 miles on them. 24. We like to stay in touch with friends and people that have meant a lot to us. We've been close to two couples for forty years now even though for several years we lived almost 70 miles apart and are still about 10 miles from each. 25. I love thin crust pizza with far, far too much stuff on them. :) 26. Been to thirteen countries and most of the states. 27. I enjoy playing around with computer graphics. 28. Collect DVDs and VHS tapes. Several hundred in my collection. 29. Still enjoy listening to vinyl records. 30. Drink my coffee black about 97% of the time. Once in a great while will have a flavored coffee but it's not my favorite. :) BTW ... this thread was bumped by special request. :) |
OK...I'll admit I asked DB to bump this thread. Thanks, sweetie for finding it for me. :x:
This thread makes me cry. Every time. I'm so amazed how open we are with one another, and how much I care about our little community. And then I saw skip's posts. OK....In the spirit of sharing. Some new facts about me - this is mostly new stuff. 21. I don't think I can ever go back to Ohio, I've outgrown my home 22. I love my mom but I am really mad at her because she doesn't take control of her life. I'm sad to admit it, but she is a cautionary tale for my life. 23. I'm paying for a top tier MBA, and I think I'll leave MBA school and take a pay cut to go do what I want to do with my life. I've been spending the past year working up the courage to make it happen. 24. I still wake up crying a couple times a month, which is one of the only times I let myself cry 25. I am completely off Rx for my rheumatoid arthritis, thanks to good health and working out, and that makes me really proud...one of the biggest things I've done for myself in my life. |
Okay, a friend asked me to give this a go so........ how tough can it be right?
Start easy and work my way in right.......... 1. I'm 38 years old, never married, no kids. 2. Got a B.A. degree in Mass Communications (1990) and completed all but three credits and my thesis towards an M.A. in communications studies. 3. Dreamed as a boy of someday playing baseball for the Chicago Cubs. Senior year of college I decided that I had to try and walk onto the baseball team just to see "what may have been". I played in high school but wasn't good enough to get any offers or anything. Made the team on the final cut and got to play in just one game before I had to give it up because of class and work obligations. Got to play 2nd base just like my baseball idol, Ryne Sandberg, and struck out three times at the plate. Got to hit a 4th time in the top of the 9th inning and I hit a home run that won the game for us. I can't explain how great that felt. 4. I was engaged to my high school sweetheart but it just wasn't to be. We were simply too young to be doing something like that. We broke up when I caught her cheating on me with a friend of her younger brother (who was 13 years old). 5. Five different ladies have asked me to marry them over the years but I just couldn't do it. A couple of them I loved very dearly but I have a reason to be a bit gun shy about a commitment like that. If I can hold it together long enough to finish this post you'll find out why. 6. Parents divorced when I was 11 and my sister and I lived with our mom. Dad was an abusive prick to both mom and my sister but not with me until the summer we moved. He got mad at me for not mowing the lawn up to his standards and decided he would chain me to a tree in the front yard and take the belt to me. That son of a bitch died in '93 and I strive everyday of my life to be a better man than he was. 7. Like to keep things pretty private and actually I've opened up more in this past month or so here at Pixies than I have at any time in my life. I have sort of followed along in the background for a few years and just decided to dive in a while back. Hopefully I'm not annoying you all too much. 8. I'm a dog lover, always have been. Got a really special little guy who is mine now but I'm afraid I'll have to get rid of him soon. 9. Worked jobs in radio, television and at a newspaper while in college. Didn't have the looks to continue in TV and the voice was there for radio but the money wasn't going to be there. Okay, number 10. This is sort of a tough one for me but what the hell. I see my friend has opened up here so I trust her instincts. 10. I was born with a chronic/terminal lung disease. At the time, kids usually didn't survive for very long with this affliction. Luckily I had a more mild case of it and was able to be relatively normal throughout my childhood and early adult years. It has caught up with me in a big way over the past few years and quite frankly I'm in sort of a daily struggle the magnitude of which some days I don't know if I can handle. I've had to leave a job that I didn't love but did enjoy the people I worked with and had moved up quite rapidly into "kinda big wig" position due to it. I'm currently on Soc Sec Disability because my lungs function at such a low level. That's the main reason I've never married. I knew this was coming and I just couldn't bear to put someone I loved threw the pain of seeing me fail as is inevitable. Can I go with an 11th one too? 11. I will break out crying every time I see the ending of the movie "Field of Dreams." Brings back the only good memories I had of my father. We used to play catch out in the front yard of our farm. He even wore an old time mit that was all fingers and no webbing. He gave me that memory and a love of that game that I just can't shake. 12. What the hell, may as well not stop now huh? I have sort of a list of goals I'd like to accomplish and recite them every morning as soon as I get done with my respiratory physical therapy to clear my lungs: *Someday I will see Charlie Brown will kick that football. *Someday I will see the Cubs win the World Series. *Someday I will live to see them find a cure for cystic fibrosis. Well, Charles Schulz has died. The Cubs have scared me a couple of times and well, I'm fading pretty quickly so I really hope that last one happens really soon. |

WOW........... what a bump..... I had to read the entire thread.......
I should contribute, but can't right now........ ((((((( to ALL previous posters))))) |
((((IowaMan))))) ~~ just cause you're my friend and I know it took a lot to write all that.
I hope it feels good just to say what's on your mind. |
1. I'm an incredibly guarded person and share very little about my past with those that are close to me, just this year I have finally started to unload some of it.
2. While I love my parents dearly, I'm incredibly ashamed of them more often than I care to admit. 3. I worshiped one of my siblings and ended up extremely disappointed. We don't speak unless absolutely necessary. 4. My other sibling has always disliked me. I finally spoke my mind a year ago and that put an end to our relationship. 5. I've accepted that I don't have a strong family connection and can only hope if I ever create my own family I can show them how to be an open and loving family. 6. I'm the only person in my mom's family to attend college. I'm the only person I'm aware of in both sides of the family to earn a master's degree. No one in my family understands the level of accomplishment I've earned. 7. I wonder where my drive for success and education came from, whomever planted the seed, I'd like to thank. 8. I'm in debt greater than I ever thought I could be, but I'm digging myself out of it one month at a time. 9. I'm overweight and my confidence suffers greatly from it. I have tried often to change this but usually the 3 month mark is what breaks me of the new and improved lifestyle. 10. I swore I was a dog person and despised cats until I got a cat of my own three years ago. Although I'm allergic and he's a PITA I couldn't imagine not having him or having a dog again. |
I checked this thread twice and can only find 10 so far so here goes
11. I am still tortured by my relationship with Skipthisone and go from loving him to hating him still all these years later. He taught me so much and I'm grateful but I wonder if I'll ever be able to get past what he did. I still feel guilty, distraught, and abandoned. 12. I'm not really a good teacher. I find it difficult to show my students how to do specific tasks. I know that I'm still new at this but I need to learn some good strategies. 13. I waste a lot of money and buy more clothes than I can get good use from. I end up giving most of it away often still with tags attached because I only end up wearing things I love. 14. I never wore red ever until a few years ago when someone I who I really respect the opinion of made me feel like I was beautiful in it. 15. I'm not sure how I really ended up running Pixies or why both sets of owners have been kind enough to let us hang out together on a site that costs more $$ than it makes. But I'm grateful everyday. |
Well let's see how this introspective goes.....
1. I'm very grateful to Lil and Pixies for giving me a place to hang out and be myself 2. I have the most wonderful wife that puts up with my idiosyncrasy's 3. I'm the oldest of 5 and the only college grad as is my wife and 2 kids 4. I'm not happy about some choices I've made in life 5. I tend to plan most of my life as opposed to being spontaneous 6. I tend to have bouts of SAD this time of year 7. I usually see the funny side of most circumstances 8. My profession has allowed me the opportunity to meet fascinating celebrities and some great leaders of our country 9. All people I've come in contact with have added an additional dimension to me and made me what I am today..... even as I still evolve 10. My wife and adult children are my reason for being |
1. I play Neopets. :o
2. Only in this past year have I learned to like beer. 3. It's not easy to be one of only about 50 000 french (first language)-speaking Nova Scotians. 4. I am Catholic, and say the rosary when I go to bed to help me fall asleep. I was the sacristan at my church back home for a few years. 5. I love studying. However, I will procrastinate as long as possible before beginning an assignment. 6. I am a very clumsy person. I will trip over my own feet, spill anything spillable, break anything breakable. I will laugh while doing it, though. 7. When I was in grade 5 and 6, the others in my class at school would pick on me and torture me psychologically. To this day I hate the teacher for never helping me. Only after I was crying in pain and frustration would he try to get them to shut up. Day after day. 8. Because of #7, I was very depressed as a pre-teen and to a certain extent as a teen. For a few years I cried myself to sleep every night, and while I never tried to kill myself, I thought of it every day. 9. Because of #8, I hate crying. I can cry by myself, but I try not to let myself cry in front of others. This makes it difficult for me to confront issues in relationships, since tears are so often unavoidable. 10. I am working hard on voicing my needs in my relationship with Lake. I lost him once through my own stupidity... I ran away because it was easier to do that than talk. He is the love of my life and my soul mate. With him I am complete. |
Forgive a goofy ol' man but ... well ...
I sure love you people! :grope: |
Special people, DB.
