What did YOU do over the summer?
A 2,000-year-old brothel in Pompeii hase been repoened - for tourism - following a year long restoration that cost $250,000. Money well spent. :)
The prostitute's speciality was illustrated in erotic frescoes. |

I'd sure love to be able to visit Pompeii. I think it'd be fascinating to walk the streets of an ancient Roman city.

In those times, prostitution was not illegal.
It isn't here again. PAGAP? |

Pompeii is a wonderful place to visit. It's so thick with atmosphere and I found it surprisingly emotional. Some of the castings of people who were killed are in such anguished, such human positions that they made me want to cry. It was strange to think that these people lived so long ago and yet, faced with fear and pain and death they reacted in exactly the same way as anyone would today. Seeing someone huddled in the foetal position hiding their face, or someone lying on their front covering their head was just so real. I wasn't prepared for that when I went there. |

I have seen and read things about this and found it equally festinating. I've also read that the erotic fresco paintings (signage) over the doors was common for most commercial operations as many of the population and visitors were illiterate. They also were suppose to have penises inlaid in the sidewalks, pointing the way to the houses of pleasure. |
i certainly didn;t draw any lascivious pictures.
