Transitions - Johnny Hart

Johnny Hart, the cartoonist who created “BC” and “The Wizard of Id”, died on Saturday. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Hart was voted Cartoonist of the Year twice by the National Cartoonist Society'.

R.I.P. sir. Thank you for all the smiles.

That's too bad. The Wizzard of Id has always been one of my favorites. R.I.P. and thanks for all the smiles and laughs over the years sir.

Thank you and RIP, Johnny.

In addition to his cartoon work Johnny Hart was also instrumental in sponsoring the PGA's BC Open which was played in Endicott, NY. The tournament ran from 1971-2006.

The cartoon world and the golf world, and the supporters and friends of both will miss your talents and passion.

Oh man. :(

The creator of two standards of the funny pages... You will be missed Mr. Hart.

Rest in peace.

In recent years, he had joined up with the conservative Christian movement, & he couldn't seem to resist letting his beliefs color his strip, culminating with a controversial panel on Easter Sunday 2001 that got him dropped from many newspapers (including my Tennessean)...none of this is enough to undo the fact that for many years, B.C. was consistantly one of the most bitingly satirical & downright funny strips to grace the funny papers...& the Wizard was no slouch either...RIP Mr Hart...

Peter once concluded that there was an organ inside us all that pumped something...BC suggested they call it a "hart"....Curls called him a "bootlicker"...(one of my personal faves)

At his best, he was amazing.

I loved his work and enjoyed watching the golf tournament that he inspired...the BC Open.

R.I.P., Johnny. Keep the beer cold for the rest of us.
