Apocalypse not yet.
An asteroid will zoom past Earth next week in what NASA says will be the closest flyby ever predict..ed for an object of its size.
The 2012 DA 14, discovered by chance by astronomers after passing near Earth last February, will be around 27,700 kilometres above the planet's surface when it speeds by.
That is outside the Earth's atmosphere, but closer than the orbit of most weather and communications satellites.
Despite the close shave, NASA says there is nothing to fear.
....
This is WEAK, the weak station on your dial, reporting live from the weather station located live in the bunker built deep beneath the station!"
PS ... yikes, I really blew it. :yike: I thought I'd hit "Quote" and was working on my own post when ... after I hit "Save Changes," I realized I had accidently updated your post OF. Please forgive me.
