And, it seems that hub has a card for me this evening. In it is a $50 gift card for JoAnn's...and an apology. (For him...that is over the top.) I may need to rethink the tar and feathering. 
Thank you again, everyone, for the lovely good wishes. It was a quiet & peaceful day and the dogs cooperated...sort of.
